Why do some car drivers hate motorcyclists
Why do some car drivers hate motorcyclists

If you are a motorcycle rider you may have encountered some car drivers looking with anger or frustration on you because you split lanes. And there are other situations where some car drivers think motorcyclists are douchebags or jerks. But being a motorcycle lover here I will look at all the perspectives that make car drivers hate us. Here is a straight answer to the question.

So, Why do car drivers hate motorcyclists? Motorcycles are smaller and faster than cars thus they can reach the destination way ahead of time. Meanwhile, car drives have to sit hopelessly because of the congestion of traffic and the dimension of the car. This is the reason some car owners hate motorcyclists because they feel powerless.

Car drivers get stressed and filled with hate when they are stuck in traffic and see a motorcycle rider getting through the traffic easily. We can count this thing in jealousy.

Reasons Some cars driver hates Motorcycles

There are lots of reasons that most car drivers hate motorcycle riders. I don’t believe that every car driver hates motorcyclists but this post is intended for those car drivers who hate and find motorcyclists annoying. The love or hate both comes from their mindset and the perspective of looking at motorcyclists.

Motorcyclists are not caged

You may be surprised to know that even though you ride any expensive cars in the world. It can’t give you the feel of freedom like motorcyclists because somewhere you also know that you are in a cage. The cars can’t maneuver through the traffic like motorcycles and scooters.

Whereas the motorcycle is a totally different experience and perspective of driving. Motorcyclists are the freest being on this planet. Also in the vehicle category, there is nothing like a motorcycle that can give you goosebumps and the joy of riding. Apart from this motorcyclists are also the ones in most danger any single mistake can take his/her life. So, it has its pros and cons but we choose to be an explorer and a coward.

Some Motorcyclists are not discipline

I am referring here to some of the motorcyclist riders who drive recklessly and change lanes without using his/her indicator (turn signal).

Some motorcycle riders don’t even care to have riding gear and helmets which is the most crucial thing to have.

I accept this fact as being a motorcycle rider that some of the guys who don’t even follow the traffic rules. But that doesn’t mean you start hating and feel jealousy towards every motorcycle rider.

We know these guys required discipline towards riding their motorcycle. But you know as I already said motorcycle riders are free and will be free. So, there are some riders who don’t even want to wear those heavy riding gear that’s all.

As I have already said before, every car driver doesn’t hate motorcyclists so not every motorcyclist is careless. You should not judge every motorcycle rider just because of some random irresponsible rider and start to behave, everyone, the same.

Motorcycle exhaust sound

Imagine you are in your car driving in peace with your windows open but suddenly a motorcycle rider passes beside you in full throttle. Some of the car drivers hate this and also don’t like the exhaust sound which is the most important thing for most motorcyclists. But I understand this can be disturbing for someone but we can’t help it. Exhaust sound is the soul of motorcycle riding, some people use custom exhaust for the sound thing.

Motorcycle exhaust works like a messenger that screams and proves it’s presence from far away and also helps cagers to be alert. Thus the cagers (car drivers) make their way out when any motorcycle is coming.

Here is what every car drivers should keep in mind while driving around small vehicles like motorcycles and scooters:-

Motorcycles and scooters are smaller vehicles than cars and also require some attention. You can’t fully ignore these vehicles as these are also humans and probably richer than you.

Share the road with motorcycle riders

I have read some answers in quora where one guy thought to swerve in the direction of a motorcycle because he doesn’t like the sound of exhausts. But he stopped himself from doing it by having one fact in his mind that “even a slight inappropriate action could take the motorcycle rider life and he may end up dead“.

So, he stopped himself from doing this and we can assume that some car drive may have blocked the road for the motorcyclists or moved a bit in that direction.

Thus, car drivers, it’s for you that you share the road with motorcycle riders. I can understand that some drivers don’t like the exhaust sound. But, the exhaust sound is motivation for motorcycle riders. It’s a fuel for us to keep us positive in our ride. It boosts the confidence which cagers (car drivers) probably can’t understand until they themselves don’t ride a motorcycle and feel its freedom and vibrancy.

Thus, the first and most important rule for car drives is to be aware of their surrounding traffic and see that if any motorcycle rider is behind them and looking to go away then please share the road.

Look twice before changing lanes and braking

It’s important to take care of the motorcycle riders around you and look twice before attempting to do anything. Because your single mistake can take anyone’s life. Motorcycle riders are the most vulnerable person in the traffic because of the open riding and there is nothing wrong in this. But for car drivers listening to songs in their cage riding comfortably it’s important to check twice before changing lanes or doing anything because there can be any rider behind you. Your instant action may take his/her life

Have a distance with the motorcycle rider

Reasons to have a certain distance because motorcycles accelerate way faster than cars and also break faster than cars. So, if a motorcycle rider applies instant break then you (car driver) may take some time to be able to notice and apply the break.

And if you don’t maintain a certain distance with a motorcycle rider then there is a chance that you may end up injuring the motorcycle rider.

Car drivers should drive at a distance of at least 10m from the motorcycle rider.

Give the motorcycle rider some space although most don’t need it because of the acceleration. Although there are some two-wheeler vehicle riders who ride slow like a cow.

The same rule applies for motorcycle riders; they should also keep the same rule in mind.

Conclusion

We have discussed most of the aspects of this hate and I am sure you have got a new perspective on looking. I am sure that not every motorcyclist is a jerk and nor do every car driver hates motorcycle riders.

Thus, this post is just intended for some handful of angry car drivers who are living in a cage. Be a better rider till then goodbye!!
